Related below, Khan Noonien Singh. Wrath of Khan was a Shakespearean drama putting the man who lost everything against the man who got everything he wanted out of his career.

Gerard de Villefort. Arguably an ancestor of the modern political villain, Villefort does it all to create and protect his name: infanticide, elder abuse, judicial malpractice, coercing his daughter into an engagement with a royalist, and a political marriage to a poisoner. While the other members of the conspiracy are little more than opportunists, Villefort has, at every step of the way, sacrificed other people for political gain.
