This is what I should have done. I listened to their spiel and once they were done I blurted out 'I live with my parent and I don't have any money.' When they asked what would be a good time to come back, I kept on saying next week.

Well, when they show up next week, you can do what I do and drop to the ground if I'm by the window and don't answer the door. Or, if they see you, don't answer regardless.
