Re: man arrested for imiating loli doujin
(Anonymous) 2017-06-29 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)Gist of the this dude arrested imitated a loli doujin and sexually abused a minor using the method in the doujin (impersonating an inspector) to get access to their home.
And I've always been adamantly you're free to enjoy whatever fetish you like as long as you don't treat real people badly. So having a piece of fiction directly influencing someone to harm another person doesn't sit quite right with me. But should any blame be on the doujin author, when the child molester is in complete control of his actions.
But I mean there's also that one instance of some dude using a Breaking Bad method to murder someone so I'm not really sure blaming fiction for copycat crimes is the way to go. Like should media not report on mass murders in fear it might inspire an imitator?
I guess I'm not really sure what to take away from this and am curious what everyone else here thinks.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-30 01:40 am (UTC)(link)What I do blame is my messed-up brain that likes to pump suicidal ideation all day long.
Disclaimer: I'm on meds, and have an emergency plan as well as a therapist and I keep my apartment free of my top three methods of self-harm. So I'm fighting against the screwy wiring in my brain with all my might. :) I just thought this was a good example of what effect media can have on someone with a diagnosed disordered thinking.
