Re: how to rp?

Nope, not at all. One of the people I RP with the most generally RPs as her OCs, though she occasionally does canon characters as well. Personally I only got into RP because I started to get inside this particular canon character's head, and ended up helping to run an ask blog, and then just RP sort of happened. But lots of people RP as OCs, though usually within a specific fandom universe so they can interact with canon characters. But I've even seen crossovers before, like I once saw an RP between a Buffy character and a Tolkien character. So anything is possible.

I can't really help on where to RP though because I don't do it much. I follow a bunch of tumblr RP blogs, but I only RP with a small group of people. I just don't have time for full-on RP. Honestly the only advice I have is if you've picked a specific fandom, find Tumblr rp blogs and follow them to get a feel for what goes on in that fandom, then jump in whenever you feel comfortable.
