I loved Steve's line too. I would have found it preachy or sanctimonious if he'd felt the need to drive it home with an entire speech or pound away at it over and over by bringing it up every time any of the Asgardians were mentioned but it was just one line he said in response to being told to stay out of things with the implication that a mere mortal shouldn't take on a 'god' that I found very fitting for an Irish American kid from the 1940s.
