Yuri has gained weight in the first episode or two, much to the outrage of anyone invested in his skating (since he can't really be a pro skater if he isn't in shape, like with most athletes). So his nickname is "piglet", and there's some unflattering joking shots of his gut and some other characters tease him for it. But there's never an implication that he's unattractive because he gained weight, just that he can't skate professionally. Victor already likes Yuri from the start. He had gained weight as early as the Grand Prix Finals the previous year, when he first met Victor. Victor is a little ruthless about Victor losing weight, but more from a coach standpoint. He's already openly flirting with Yuri from episode 1.
