Around here it's coyotes in addition to the cars. Coyotes got my friend's cat. But she still said it's "not right to keep cats from roaming around."

I saw a hawk snatch my neighbor's cat. I was too far away to do anything.

I had a cat when I was around 14 that got shot. The farm over the road (which is still there if Google is right, right in the middle of suburbia) must not have liked her. Poor Silver, but two of her successors plus Tess (a dog) got hit by cars. Moony twice (he didn't survive the second).

That was not a good house to have pets in.
