Re: USS's Founding Fathers

To prepare for the upcoming US holiday, what do you think USA's Founding Fathers will say about the state of our nation if they were able to see it as it is now?

I mean... our whole political, social, economic, and intellectual context is two or three radical changes removed from theirs. They would be outraged at Trump, but they would also be outraged at the United Nations, the New Deal, and the existence of a standing professional army. I'm just not sure how useful an angle it is to ask what they would think. I think it makes more sense to try to understand their context and the actual principles they believed in.

And for fun, who is your favorite Founding Father?

John Madison, Ben Franklin, James Wilson

They'd probably also say something racist and sexist on top, so yeah, not the most useful, framework.

And half of them would have endorsed slavery.
