They probably have tried, but I imagine it went something like trying to take candy away from a crying baby, only the crying baby can fire everyone, so they had to back down

Who is "they" and why should they try? Trump's tweets are aimed at shoring up Trump's own personal supporters and they are still lapping it up. Furthermore the controversy his tweets generate distract from the more serious structural problems within the Republican party and base by keeping media and liberals focused on the tweets and not the more serious long lasting damage.

TL;DR? They are probably asking him to tweet more and really let rip when he does.

Yep. Trump critics forget that his supporters love his tweets, and the distraction they serve.
