I haven't written them all. Most of them were left as a fantasy, just because they were too wangst-ridden and pointlessly horrible to actually write fic about. The dying-alone-and-miserable, psychosis, depression, paranoia, blind-deaf-mute, losing more limbs, (and sort-of schizophrenia as well) I've actually written out. electrocution and sensory deprivation appeared as subplots, and not as torture, either, but they did happen, in a way
If you're serious about links, I suppose I could try to come up with some way....

I'm actually serious about the links, here. People dealing with major loss/a change in how they define themselves is one of the few things that will get me to click a link regardless of all the other criterion on which I usually screen fanfiction. Maybe just a link to the LJ community it's posted in, if that would work? I'm not technically in FMA fandom, so I don't know the good comms.

And I understand your point about wanting canon to give him a happy ending, too, because I've definitely felt the same way before. Something about it being "real" instead of hypothetical suddenly makes it not okay, even if you personally have done worse things to the character.

My stuff is kind of staggered over a longish period of time, and anyway, not all my stories bill themselves as "here be mental problem X", so just linking you to a comm might not be helpful.

Oh, and that's pretty much exactly how I feel about the whole happy ending business.
Also, I personally felt that by the end of the series he had been damaged (emotionally, mostly) too much to ever be able to really live happily in the post-movie situation. The series put him through hell, and they didn't devote any time to letting him heal, and that's what I think ruined the ending for me most of all - it just seemed like he had given up entirely on his life ever not sucking.
