Not a TV series, but in elementary school I tried putting my hair in a ponytail because Claudia in the Babysitters Club always had her hair like that on the book covers.

Some girl came up and told my ponytail was crooked.

I've been putting my hair up in ponytails for most of my life and they still end up a little off center or completely crooked. It's a pain to comb long hair. I did try to copy one of Claudia's hairstyles as described in the books. I think it was four braids tucked into loops and held by four bows. One of my classmates told me I looked stupid and the braids unraveled by lunch time.

I used to wear my hair in pigtails because characters in some cartoons I liked (like Penny in "Inspector Gadget") used to wear them :D.

And I remember Claudia doing funky stuff with how she styled things as simple as ponytails, too, so that girl should've just taken a look at a cover of one of the books :p.

that girl probably had major issues, maybe her parents always made her do everything perfect or something, a ponytail is not such a big deal

I once let a friend convince me to rock the side-ponytail (it was the 80s). It was only for a couple of hours on a summer afternoon while we rode bikes (*cringes at the lack of a helmet*) but I'm still embarrassed.

I used to try to act like an anime character. Specifically, the klutzy ditz with the annoying high-pitched voice. Thank god I grew out of that phase before smartphones were a thing.

very few anime characters have voices that aren't annoying.

Tried to wash dishes for my grandma because some kids are a cartoon did it to be nice to their parents. I was a bit too small for that and broke a plate. :(

Nothing is stupid if the intent was to do something nice for somebody else.

I used to bite my hair because Ce'Nedra from the Belgariad/Mallorean does it and it drove my mom nuts.

I absolutely used to do the Naruto Run. You know, run super fast with your arms straight out behind you? I honesty thought I looked cool. Gaaahhh that's the shit that keeps me up at night.

I used to do that too. I cringe so hard thinking about it now, but I thought I was the shit back then. I even wore the headband and kept a bunch of plastic kunai in my backpack. I'm just thankful this was before everybody had a camera on their phone so all the stupid shit I did isn't forever memorialized on the internet.

I did too but I did it because fucking Sonic the Hedgehog did it. At least I was 9.

I got into NCIS and wore my hair in pigtails all through my last year of high school

Did the character have a nice hairstyle? I don't see the problem with this, even into my mid-20's I was taking anime-esque fanart of Mako Mori to the salon as reference. Drawn art shows off the line of the cut better than a screenshot would.

Trying to sound clever by contorting English grammar to obfuscate my point. Trying to walk around/amble with a drunken swagger.

Can you guess who I was trying to emulate?

I don't know that it's stupid, really, but I mentioned "Inspector Gadget" in another comment here...when I was a kid, I used to make computer books like the kind she had out of big pieces of paper and pretend like I had my own computer book.

I also went through a phase where I wandered around with a notebook and wrote down whatever I saw people doing in public thanks to 'Harriet the Spy'.

It was actually a commercial, I think. I tried to wash my hair in the rain. I used way too much shampoo and it all got in my eyes so I had to take a proper shower afterwards.

I wore cross pendants (and EXTREMELY short skirts) every day for a couple of years, in high school, because I was trying to dress like Buffy from S1&2. I'm very atheist, so I cringe pretty hard at the whole cross thing now. As for the skirts - I would never shame another girl for wearing something revealing, but for me personally I feel like it was a bit more revealing than I'm comfortable with now. Man those skirts were short. Like, sit down and they disappeared kind of short. I also frequently paired them with little tank tops and shit. Yeahhh.

When I was really young, I watched Full House. I'm a year younger than the Olsen twins and loved Michelle. In one of the episodes, Michelle grabs onto someone's leg -I want to say it was Jesse, but it could have been Danny or Joey- and they kind of carry her around. I guess I thought it looked fun or something because I tried to do it by grabbing the leg of the next person who walked by me. I almost made Grandma fall down.

Wore my hair up in a top ponytail for a summer after I read DragonLance, because Tasslehoff Burrfoot wore it like that. I was probably tween/early teen though.
