What is something you've had to explain to someone...

that you felt stupid explaining? Not because you didn't know but because the topic is so silly.

How Disney Princesses work. In the middle of explaining I was just hit with the thought, 'Why am I even doing this.'

How there is an Official Disney Princesses lineup. It isn't just anyone who is a princess in a Disney movie (so no Nala, Frozen people, or Leia). And the newer ones have coronation ceremonies to introduce them to the lineup. https://youtu.be/yPE5lVHucG4

Huh, I didn't know that. Cool.

I remember trying to explain to someone why Mulan and Pocahontas, while technically not princesses, were still considered Disney Princesses. I don't even remember why I cared so much to make this other person understand.

Yep! "Yes, I know they are not princesses but through their actions of bravery and selflessness they...why is this happening?!?"

Why dogs always stare at you when they poop.

Why do they????

They're trusting you to be their lookout. Squatting is when they're most vulnerable to attack, so they look to their pack mates to alert them to possible danger. As long as they see you're chill, they can go. If you look like you're scared or getting ready to run, they'll stop (if physically possible).

Huh. I guess I'll do my best to look extra chill when the dog's constipated.

Why the gross euphemism "hatchet wound" is used (what the visual similarity is, basically, when my friend had never considered what an axe slice in skin would look like.) I hate that phrase and here I was going in depth about why it was "appropriate" and, like, alas and goddamn, what a moment.

Well, this is a reversal of the question, but someone once had to explain to me why most men consider big lips an attractive feature on women. I wasn't even young. I was like nineteen. Then, when they told me, I remember being genuinely aghast at the answer. It just seemed so tawdry and, well, objectifying. (I don't really see it that way anymore, for the record. I mean, it can be objectifying, of course. But so can anything.)

Once some people on an anime message board asked whether Ash's Pikachu is a boy or a girl and I gave my opinion based on the Princess vs. Princess episode that he was a boy. It doesn't sound silly if it was a Pokemon message board but it wasn't and I think they thought it was bizarre that I had an actual answer, and that I could name a specific Pokemon episode and was willing to admit that.

(As it turns out Ash's Pikachu is a girl but nobody knew that until quite a while later.)

I had to go look this up because I was pretty sure Ash's Pikachu is a male Pikachu.

It says he's male?

I should have looked it up myself. I was always sure it was a male, but I have this memory that I heard that the (Japanese) voice actress said it was female. Well, that explains why he was carrying packages in the Princess vs. Princess episode then.

I guess I really will attempt to explain this huh.

Balk rules. They're stupid, and it winds up being like pornography: "you know it when you see it."

That doctors generally work hard. Especially ones in big emergency rooms.
This girl was a real special case. I honestly thought she was trolling me when she said, "I don't know, do doctors work hard?"

Why I was wearing a Batman shirt, to my grandmother who has somehow gone her whole life without knowing about the Batman franchise.
