Yeah this is kinda the feeling I've gotten the few times I've caught her show or looked up her recipes. As someone who really needs actual 'old-timey' from-scratch recipes because I'm allergic to most premade things out there, hers are some of the least of what I'm looking for that I've found. I have so much better luck bumming around PBS cooking shows for a day than anything Pioneer Woman :/.

This may sound weird, but have you tried checking kosher cookbooks? Obviously they won't have some types of foods you might be interested in, but some of them have recipes for making things from scratch - especially the Passover cookbooks. Because strict Kosher can't always rely on store bought stuff.

I have not, because I'm not Jewish so looking for Kosher cookbooks is not something that generally comes to mind. But you're right, actually there's a few things out there I can only eat if it's made Kosher for Passover, otherwise I'll have trouble with it. I'll have to look into that.
