It's a descriptor; to me "orientation" refers to what gender(s) you're attracted to (relative to your own).

I agree, but some people call themselves "demisexual" with no other detail and say it's an orientation/sexuality.

yeah, I mean, I am agreeing with you here :P

I'm not against people calling themselves demisexual but I don't think it's an orientation specifically because orientation refers to gender
