Honestly I will never understand why south park has so many yaoi fangirls.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-07 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Same, seriously.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-07 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I don't find that all that strange. There are women who ship Rick and Morty. A lot of women on the internet are sick freaks.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-08 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Not seeing how the first part of your sentence ties together with the last part of it tbh

(Anonymous) 2017-07-06 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I can understand fanfic and fanart to a degree with South Park, but the shipping and the bishified artwork never fail to confuse me.

It's so weird. They're entirely different characters, at that point, so... why South Park?

I wrote South Park fanfic but it didn't have anything to do with yaoi.

Two words: cock magic.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-07 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Or, South Park style: chocolate salty balls magic!

(Anonymous) 2017-07-06 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Any story about young boys will be shipped to hell and back 1000x, nevermind their ages. Fandom thirst knows no limits

Probably Similar to why people ship the matsus or any other ironic thing together: because they know its not serious so they make it 'serious' while not taking it seriously (maybe along the way it stops being a joke and things begin to get unironic and next thing you know people get genuinely attached to these walking 2d eggs)

(Anonymous) 2017-07-06 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
New matsu was set up for the fujoshi audience though with even in show jokes. VAs were a list as well.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-06 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get it either, but if fandom has taught me anything, it's that people will ship EVERYTHING.

I don't get the appeal of fandom for this show either, but they seem like they're having fun with it so whatever.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I seriously don't get it either, but the yaoi episode totally made me lol.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-07 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
....there's a yaoi episode?

(Anonymous) 2017-07-07 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yup! Here's a clip from it:

I probably would have laughed more, but in the back of my mind, I kept going "Welcome to 1999! I hope you enjoy your stay."

(Anonymous) 2017-07-07 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Not this show in particular (the sense of humor doesn't appeal to me, so I've never watched it) but I have a bad habit of getting into embarrassing, "odd" fandoms because I think to myself "lol, what if there's fic?" and start reading it ironically... you can see where this is going, I'm sure.

I really don't get how fandoms can arise from things like that either. I get enjoying something, but the type of person who'd write fic for like South Park, or the Simpsons, etc. kind of shows really are probably not in fandom for the same reasons I am. And that's okay, I just don't get it.

From what I gather a lot of them are youngish or started young watching SP. The series is 20yo now, after all.

But just like there are fans there are people who vocally dislike it. See the bitching that came after the Tweek x Craig episode and the people ranting it was "~*too gay*~"
