Man, absolutely same. I'd heard this claim so much during my time in Pokémon fandom (aka about 75% of my life) that I always thought Tajiri had confirmed it himself, and it kind of hurt when I finally found out it was just a rumor.

Okay, but it's really shitty to say someone has a mental disability when a) it has not been diagnosed b) it has not been disclosed to you

People are claiming he has a mental disability? Autism is a neurological one.

Mental disorder, disability, neurological difference it's all semantics as far as I'm concerned. Something "wrong" with the brain that impedes day to day function when doing daily tasks.

What's so wrong if he does have autism/aspergers? I have it and I function, and this paints it in a really derogatory light. What does it change if he does?

I think it's wrong to say someone is on the autism spectrum or any other mental abnormality as a fact when the person has never stated that to be the case. Additionally speculating if someone has something that doctor must diagnosis, especially if the person who you are speculating on has little or no personal contact with you, is in poor taste.

Autism itself is not disgusting but how this rumor has been treated as fact is.
