I didn't watch the X-Men Quicksilver. Partially because I was irked that they had just him, because I love the twins together so much and because I thought it kinda stunk that they added yet another male character while not including the female. So I can't speak to that version. I had issues with the Marvel version, but I don't suppose they matter now.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-09 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)The fact is, Fox didn't want to play with Marvel, so Marvel didn't have any choice but to do it the way they did it. Get over it.

From what I understand, the compromise was that Fox got to use them as Magneto's kids and Mutants, but couldn't refer to the rest of the things they had done. Whereas Marvel had access to them because they were Avengers, but they couldn't reference being mutants as the source of their powers or that Magneto was their father. It's not the best compromise, but I could accept it. Changing years of comics history to get rid of the aspects that they weren't allowed to use didn't have to happen. I mean, how freaking easy is it to separate the comics universe from the movie universe? They do it all the time.
I did deal with it. By not investing my money or time in comics anymore. I can still be disappointed that they couldn't work it out in a better way.

It's just stupid how they've got it all diced up and parceled out when it's not like that *at all*, and you'd think sharing it around would just *improve* things. I know more people would be happy with the whole cinema 'verse if they stopped trying to separate them all.

I think so, but obviously I know little about studio politics and economics.
