Re. Amber's death: an "uppity" woman coming to a bad end is one of the oldest cliches ever--the writers ought to be ashamed of themselves for copping out like that.

I highly doubt the writers will be ashamed when they've written all of the female characters specifically to wind up subserviant to House. The only reason any of them have ever had power is so that he can get rid of it and make them look progressively weaker, whinier and more ridiculous.

You're right in that it's a cliche, but Amber was presented very positively after her departure as a candidate--House's equal in everything but diagnostics.

I agree that Amber's strength was ultimately her downfall as far as the writers were concerned, but honestly, I'm glad she went out still being strong instead of sticking around for a few seasons and getting her proverbial teeth ripped out instead. Still sucks, though.
