There was some of that but then it collided with an argument about how Arabs are apparently super racists towards South Asians

Where do the Persians stand on this? Last time I dealt with Persian advocacy groups, which full disclosure was 30 years ago or more, they were dead set on being their own ethnicity separate from Arab, and any sort of other Asian group. Are they demanding the cast all be Persians?

Not that it matters, Aladdin is a Chinese tale. The characters should be played by an ethnic Chinese group (although which of those is another argument)

It's a remake of the Disney animated film, though, decidedly not Chinese.
