Thrawn was clearly a hard character to write. If you're writing a character who's very strong, you don't have to be strong yourself, but it's hard to portray a brilliant tactician if you're not actually a brilliant tactician. There were times when it seemed like he wasn't smart so much as everyone around him was dumb.

Have you read the newest Thrawn book? Just curious your opinion on that. Mostly because I agree with you about him not always being smart, but just observant and putting 2 and 2 together faster than everyone around, which is necessarily being a brilliant tactician, as being observant.
