No worries, OP - the thing is, while Superman and Cap are both patriotic (having or expressing devotion to and vigorous support for one's country), they also feel free to criticize it, how it's run, what it does, etc. They don't blindly worship.

They're not nationalistic (an extreme form of [patriotism], especially marked by a feeling of superiority over other countries). While some lame writers might put over the top crap into some of the lines Cap or Superman says, for the most part, they stick up for the little guy, help people, and try to do good.

I haven't said the Pledge since like....third grade. Fuck that noise.
