Nardole being in this past series annoyed me, he added absolutely nothing of value and just seemed to get in the way of good Bill and Doctor episodes.

Martha coming back in series 4 didn't bother me (I love Martha) but I was annoyed that Donna had to share what should have been her time to shine with every other fucking companion out there. Like as much as I love them, Donna deserved better.

Wrong, Nardole is the one who calls the Doctor on his shit and I appreciate it. It's good to have a companion who doesn't think that the Doctor is omgsoawesome.

A lot of companions call the Doctor on his shit though and Bill could have done that as well given enough time (in fact she already was doing it a bit.)

All Nardole did was constantly remind the Doctor that he had agreed to guard the vault and we really didn't need a secondary character for that, the Doctor could have had his own guilt about it.

Maybe because one series companions and their writers know they have fewer stories to tell, so they raise their own personal bars.

I loved Donna, but I didn't mind that all of Ten's companions came together for the finale. I thought it was pretty heartwarming. Still, I wish we could've had another season with Donna and I seriously hate what happened to her. I adore Bill and I really hope she comes back. Nardole ended up growing on me and I guess I wouldn't mind seeing him back.

THIS! I ADORED Nardole AND Bill and just the entire Dynamic between the three of them. It was fun and refreshing and I ALWAYS like the TARDIS better with Multiple companions.

I just want more of her. God, she was great.

But also, I feel like with one season, the writers are better able to do an arc. As opposed to the ones where they're struggling to find stories for the characters.

I tend to love all the companions so I wasn't surprised by how much I adored Bill but I'm definitely disappointed her story appears to be over. I hope they consider bringing her back on as a guest at some point because I love the energy she brought to the show and I'd enjoy seeing how she interacts with a new Doctor.

I don't agree with your ranking of the companions, but I am annoyed that Bill's run was so short. It seems Chibnall wanted to wipe the slate clean entirely rather than carrying the companion over to the next doctor as happened with Clara. I can see why he would want that but it's rough on Pearl.
