Sounds to me like the only reason you can't participate is that you refuse to try.

I mean... there ARE other possible obstacles to learning fencing/sword fighting besides merely refusing to try. For me, it's lack of funds, lack of opportunity, and carpal tunnel. OP probably has their own obstacles.

Perhaps, but I was basing my comments on OP's words, not whatever situation I could imagine for their life.

I love swordplay too. I love learning the intricacies of swordwork, especially when the people making movies put the effort to show story through the swordplay. Like when Obi-wan consciously mimicked Qui-gon's stance when he and Maul fought their last fight, and used that to lure Maul into attacking the same way he did back then so Obi-wan could finish him in three moves. Or, just the evolution of Obi-wan's fighting style as it reflected how he was developing as a person.

I also love historical swordplay, and learning about how real fights would've gone and why they used this kind of sword here but not there. All that kind of stuff is really interesting. Jedi swordwork is the best though since it's not confined by things like real-life physics. :)

I don't see why you can't give fencing a try if it appeals to you. Unless there's some kind of medical reason behind you being a klutz, this could be a fun way to train yourself out of that. And even if that doesn't happen, you would still probably have fun with it.

I am SUCH a klutz, but I'm learning rapier in the SCA and having a lot of fun with it!

Huzzah! Glad to hear you're having fun.

You aren't the only one. One of the reasons my first heroes were Zorro and Robin Hood.

But you can learn sword. I took a year of stage fencing. That is where they teach you to not hit people. Still want to try competition fencing.
