I don't hate her. But while Rose was the character who never got an ending that made sense because they kept breaking the rules to bring her back, Clara was the character who never got a beginning that made sense because they kept breaking the rules to give her another one. In fact, it's still not clear to me exactly how many Claras there were in continuity.

Clara as a character is easier to accept if you just forget everything that happened in series 7. Which is honestly not hard to do because that's how Moffat writes her anyway, her only continuity is that she was with the Doctor, otherwise nothing from series 7 matters in 8 and 9.

There was only one Clara, and all of the others were just "echoes" from the point at which she chose to save the Doctor in season 7. It's kinda like how Rose was Bad Wolf all along, spreading herself throughout time, but didn't /become/ Bad Wolf until the end of the season. Just with Clara, the echoes weren't just writing on a wall (and none of them lasted long; just long enough to save the Doctor) At least, that's how I understood it.
