Sherlock fics that make the last episode to have all been a dream or something. People can write what they want to write and I find these fics easy enough to avoid, but for some reason it really grinds my gears. I didn't think that ep was super fantastic or anything but I didn't feel *betrayed* or like it was so shitty it's existence must be erased from the time stream. No ships became canon, but that ep didn't sink any either (John/Mary sank 2 episodes before) so there's no reason to freal out. Fics set earlier in the show or AUs that diverge from an earlier point are fine, but re-writing S4 E3 so it happened but didn't *really* happen annoys me and feels like the fanfic equivalent of a temper tantrum. It's not so bad now, but initially after the ep aired it seemed like most of the fics were like that, while I was interested in seeing where people could take the characters from the actual ending.

Personally, I prefer fics that ignore/rewrite everything after The Reichenbach Fall. And if I can't have that, then I'll take fics that ignore/rewrite everything after His Last Vow.

So is that more or less annoying to you than just ignoring/rewriting the last episode?
