No, but I know a few people who do it.

What type (locality dependent, but any major metropolis is going to have Police/Medical/Firefighter separate). From what I've been told it's 95% cutting through the nonsense, and being ready for the tiny number of calls that do matter. Obviously can be very emotionally draining but you invariably get used to that/tune it out, and you need an ability to deal with people in highly stressful situations screaming at you and not giving you the information you need.

Also 30% of the time you ask someone where they are the answer is going to be some variation of "at my house".
