This is a really interesting secret tbh. Because, like, at least to me, it feels really natural and expected for all stories to be centered around extremely hot people. But maybe that's fucked up. I never really thought about it

No one's saying it should be, but a lot of humanity defaults to wanting to be attractive to other people (whatever their idea of attractive might be).

Hot guys... asshole love interest... you gave up on them for the same reason I couldn't put them down. The noncon fae gangbang and bestiality were like icing on the cake.

Aren't most of the people Mac meets Sidhe? It makes sense to me that otherworldly creatures preying on humans would want to appear attractive.

Barrons not being an ass would have sped up the story immeasurably.

Be glad that you gave up before Shadowfever. What a waste of time reading that book was.
