Re: Which popular scenes fall flat for you?

Everyone always talks about how the end of Doomsday in Doctor Who breaks their heart but I didn't really feel it.

It was a decent episode but I was getting annoyed with Rose at that point (Ten/Rose was not a good combo for me and I preferred her with Nine) and the fact that she was willing to leave behind her family and never see them again for the Doctor kind of soured the moment for me.

Yup. I actually still liked Rose at that point, though I didn't ship her with the Doctor at all and thought she sometimes brought out the worst in Ten. But honestly, all I was thinking is that she's still alive. I knew even then that other companions had actually died. She's living, just in a parallel universe. Since I didn't buy into the idea of her as the "one true love" of an immortal Time Lord, it just was over dramatic and annoying to me.

Yeah I think the problem was 10/Rose got largely sold as a romance and I've never been into Doctor/companion romances. It also frustrated me that Rose was willing to abandon her family because she KNEW that the doctor tends to abandon companions (she found out as much when she met Sarah Jane) so I wasn't sympathetic towards her and all her crying about wanting to be with the Doctor forever and how he needed her or whatever. The Doctor was also actively trying to get her to leave so she would be with her family.

I didn't feel it either, mainly because I hated Ten/Rose and I kinda felt like she did okay with the hand she got. Like, she's got her mom and her (alternate dimension) dad. At least she didn't die.

Yep she also had Mickey (even broken up they were still friends) and considering what some of the other companions went through it wasn't all that bad.

Ten/Rose is about as close as I get to a NOTP, so it's probably not surprising that scene does nothing for me.

I'm glad other people feel the same because initially I thought I was alone in not getting much from the end of that episode since everyone I knew always talked about how sad it was. I thought it was a fine end episode for Rose, they managed to separate her from the Doctor without killing her off but I didn't really cry for her or anything.
