I think you mean Order of the Phoenix, OP.

I don't mind that JKR wrote them off, but then, I never understood why people cared what she said.

I always liked them together too. One of the few times I prefer the movies over the books is because they have that scene at the end of the battle where this pairing is hinted at. Like others, I don't think that because JKR said it it's canon. They're fun ideas, but if it's not in the books, it's definitely something you can ignore IMO. Haven't read Cursed Child yet, so I don't know if these two and their personal lives are even mentioned.

That fanart though.

Since Goblet of Fire? That's impressive, considering Luna wasn't even in it. :P

JKR didn't mind the idea of them when the last film had the hint. But I honestly can't imagine Luna being with anyone who isn't as strange as Luna.

Sometimes I think it's better to leave endgame ships to the imagination rather then telling fans who grew up and married whom. Harry Potter is a good example of a story that did not need to end on grownup versions of the kid characters we were familiar with.

I ship Luna with Ginny but that obviously wasn't going to happen and she made a really cute couple with Neville. He's open-minded enough and has been through enough to relate to her I think.

I don't know why JKR had to marry everybody off anyway either.

What? You mean every single person you went to school with DIDN'T marry within your graduating class?

To be fair, Luna marries someone she wasn't at school with, which strengthens my suspicion that Luna was secretly the most sensible character of all.

A lot of people shipped things that didn't become canon. Neville/Luna isn't special. Its one ship, same as any other, that the author chose not to make canon. Just enjoy it in fanon. A ship doesn't need to be canon to be shipped.

If you're talking about Goblet of Fire then don't you mean Ginny and Neville? Since she was his date? It's been forever since I read the books but I can't remember if there was any extra Neville and Luna moments besides them both being Harry's closest friends outside the main trio.

I know the Deathly Hallows kinda hinted Neville and Luna at the end and it would be cute, but that's what fandom is for.

I'm not even in the fandom and I shipped these two.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-22 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
To my recollection, that wasn't in the epilogue and so - unpopular opinion, but as far as I'm concerned - it is not canon. Anything JKR said in interviews is no more "real" than anyone else's post-series fanfic. If it matters to you that your ship is canon, just ignore her statements after the fact.
