For me it's not just that they built up Barney/Robin but also they specifically and repeatedly told us how Ted and Robin were wrong for each other and it was such a slap in the face to finally meet his perfect wife only for them to kill her off for Ted/Robin.

I usually avoid the final season all together now, I'll watch earlier episodes but it's definitely better to pretend the finale didn't happen.

This is true. Although, I disliked Ted so much by the end, I don't think he deserved Tracey. She was far too good for him.

Haha true Ted was the worst but at least he really loved Tracey and the show didn't give us five million reasons why they weren't compatible like they did with Ted/Robin. Ted/Robin was kind of a NOTP for me by the end of the series.
