If there's one thing I can do, it's rant! :)

I do get where you're coming from. Risking his life to try to save Amber was huge for House. A tiny part of me, however, keeps remembering that House wanted to do it anyway; he was the one who originally suggested it and was all gung-ho about it. I guess I have a bit less faith in House, but I think in a way it's warranted. Think of what he's done to - or rather, not done for - Wilson in the past. He's arguably had a huge part to play in all three of Wilson's previous marriages as well as (presumably) any intervening potential girlfriends. He couldn't bring himself to keep one small deal, to give one little speech, even after his friend literally gave up half his life (the other half being his friendship with House) to defend House. He refused to listen whenever Wilson hinted (or blatantly admitted) that he needed desperately to talk to him about things that were bothering him. He left him high and dry during the Tritter fiasco, stubborning his way through each and every humiliation Wilson suffered on his behalf simply because he didn't want to fess up to the crime he committed. This directly resulted in Wilson being alienated not only from House, but from Cuddy and the fellows as well, all of whom treated Wilson like the traitor throughout that incident. He lived in a hotel for god knows how long. After all of this, we find out he's had to resort to antidepressants, and even after House reveals this fact, he does next to nothing to help out. Season four again finds him recklessly risking his life for no reason whatsoever (jack knife in socket incident), once again putting his friend through the pain of worrying about whether or not he would die. Through all of this, we only see one truly honest apology - when House is in jail and Wilson comes to visit - which he then tries to renege on later.

So yeah, House risking his life like that was pretty significant, but I can hardly fault Wilson - after all the other shit House has put him through - for demanding a bit more. Especially now that Amber is dead.

Heh, these two are so fucked up, it's really ridiculous!

Oh, I'm in no way saying Wilson's at fault. The man gets so many props for putting up with House - I have no idea how he does it. I'm just saying that in Wilson's Heart, House seemed to go through some sort of major change for Wilson specifically. Risking his life wasn't all he did. He did several things that one could tell he diagreed with simply because Wilson asked for it (IE: freezing Amber's body and doing the blood cultures) also, one point that everyone seems to look over, but my jaw nearly hit the floor - he lied to make Wilson feel better.

Wilson: I thought if everything stopped, it'd be okay.
House: And it's gonna be.

I can't remember him ever saying anything like that before unless he was absolutely sure or had an agenda (and even when he is absolutely sure, he rarely goes through with the effort to placate anyone). He didn't know that Amber was going to be all right, and yet he said it was in an effort to make Wilson feel better.

I don't know. It's quite possible I'm reading far too much into this, I suppose. XD

I do agree with you on all points made. The exchange you quoted was, in my opinion, worth a million times more than House risking his life for Amber - because hey, he does that for normal patients anyway. But he never lies about the patient's status, or at least never in an altruistic manner.

I know, and I find it weird that not even [livejournal.com profile] house_wilson seems to find it important. Hell, even my mother got teary-eyed when those lines were said, and she despises House. (The character, not the show.)

Heh to be perfectly honest, I don't particularly care for House myself. He's a real douche 98% of the time; the other 2% is what keeps me from outright despising him. :) But at the same time, even though I don't like who he is, I love how he's written, so... it's all good!

And [livejournal.com profile] house_wilson has a tendency to focus on one or two things - which are usually the bad parts - and ignore a lot of the really good stuff. So it didn't surprise me when they glossed over that exchange!

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I mean, like I said, I'm way more protective than is probably healthy to be toward a fictional character, but he is a jackass, no way to get around that. XD (I still love everything about him, though. Haha)

I know! They seem so focused on only the depressing angles of the finale lately. It's a total downer, which I don't need at ALL, considering... :/
