It's still a positive change and it means media is realizing that female protags = audience gained.

AYRT Oh yeah like I said I don't think it's a bad thing, I just was thinking in terms of realistically the BBC is a business and I'm sure they made this move to get some attention for the show since it's been on a decline. They probably finally realized doing the same white guy just wasn't going to bring a lot of attention with a modern audience.

NAYRT but I would assume it's both

The BBC is a business, but the people within it are human beings many of whom (I would assume) have various creative agendas and priorities and stuff and I'm sure that also played a major part in making the decision
