I want to sleep in a coffin.

Nit like as a vampire role play or anything, although I admit I would be doing that internally, Just the lining looks so comfy and I like the idea of being confined when I sleep.

Is this something in which I am alone?

One day you will.

Yeah, but I wanna enjoy it.

I doubt you're alone in wanting to do this, but sleeping in a coffin would be a good way for me to get a panic attack since I'm claustrophobic.

Man, that sucks. Most of my panic attacks happen out in public in open spaces. which also sucks.

Sounds super claustrophobia-inducing to me! I can't even go in a tanning booth. Well like, claustrophobia and also the cancer-phobia, too.

I actually have had the thought as well, not because it's a coffin, but because the inside looks so comfy. I guess I get where you come from with the feeling of being confined? Sleeping in a small space or surrounded by pillows and things (or um, my SO and dog, haha) is something I have always found super comforting though.

This does sound fun to me, but only if the lining is satin and I get to pretend I am a sexy vampire lady all night

Too small. I like to sprawl out when I'm sleeping. I love it when I'm in hotels and can be in queen or king beds. I just like having a lot of space. In normal size beds, one leg and/or one arm usually ends up hanging off the side.

So Goth.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-25 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Not entirely alone. The lining DOES look very comfortable and it's good for my/your/anyone's back to sleep flat on it like a corpse. Unfortunately, I move around too much when I sleep and know I'd hit the walls with a flailing limb and be waking up pretty much constantly

(Anonymous) 2017-07-25 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well you'd have something in common with the original book version of the phantom of the opera.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-25 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not a coffin, but I'd love sleeping in a small, enclosed space.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-25 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
They call the three-high beds onboard Navy ships "coffin racks" for a reason.

And I doubt the lining is really all that comfy. They're not going to put much actual padding in it, since the occupants generally don't care.

My favorite part of this comment is that you said they "generally" don't care. Like, what corpses DO complain?

That just made me remember the episode of HLOTS where Bayliss hooked up with a kinda crazy chick named EMMA ZOOLE and she slept in a coffin and they had sex in it. That may or may not have been the episode where Munch referred to sex, "iguana style." Actually not, now that i think of it, but "iguana style" has been a catchphrase ever since we saw it. Anyway, Emma Zoole and her coffin are in S3 episodes 4-5. Oh and Emma Zoole is played by Amy Wong from Futurama.

As a young teenager, I'd sometimes shape my duvet into a sarcophagus-type thing and try to fall asleep with the minor confinement and lie all "corpse in repose". I think it helped me settle on restless nights....

... it didn't develop into any particular gothiness or sleep oddities.
