If it works it works, don't try to overthink it.

I discovered I'm one of those obnoxious people who writes best in a public place like a coffeeshop or library or park or something. I spent so much time struggling with the idea that I should be able to write at home just as well and it just doesn't work.

Also there's nothing wrong with starting with a scene you really like and then building up to it as long as you're willing to edit the heck out of that scene later if you change your mind about things.

And here I always thought I was the odd one out for preferring to do my writing alone and in as close to total silence as possible. This train of thought was only corroborated by my attempts to attend write-ins for NaNoWriMo. I'm constantly hearing writers say they do their best work with noise/in public. Maybe we should switch places, anon! ;)

Seriously, though. Your first sentence is perfect. If it works, it works, when it comes to "how to write your best".
