107: Totally agreed. I crave good queer characters in genre TV. I crave 'em like a craving thing. If there were more of them, I'd probably spend less time reading fanfic.

110: AHAHAHAA ME TOOOO! If I was that good a player, I wouldn't need to be reading the fucking walkthrough, now, would I?

116: I was really creeped out when a ship manifesto for a pairing from The Magic School Bus was named after that song. I wanted to sit the author down and say "Listen to the lyrics. Listen to them. This song is about death. The singer is saying that when his beloved dies, he will commit suicide to be with her. Yes, it's romantic, but it's also kind of twisted." But it's like AMVs made to Evanescence songs. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop it, other than through the fans being distracted by a new "universally applicable" song.

128: I used to have no opinion about Lalla Ward but BLOOD LIBEL? Really? If that's true, it's really horrible.

138: ..."motif" means "motive". Both can be used in a musical context. You fail at music snobbery!

145: Yeah, I basically agree with this. In the early days, it was a pit of hyenas, but active mods and the emergence of community standards have made FW really valuable. If it died tomorrow, I think even the FW-haters would miss it, though they might not be willing to admit that the explosion of shitty behaviour was due to FW dying.

165: "What is essential is invisible to the eye." *sniff* That was the first book that ever made me cry.

167: Ultimate!Wanda and Pietro were awesome together when Millar was writing, but I don't like how overt Loeb's been about them. It was already obvious to the readers. There was no need to shove it in the faces of the other characters as well.

...People write pairings from The Magic School Bus?

You know, every time I say to myself, "okay, now I've seen everything," something like this comes along...

Of course, that following dynamic is sort of exactly what I was going for with that pairing -- I can't say whether everyone uses it with that meaning in mind, but I do know it's getting a little overused for my taste, orz.

Et voilà, the Arnold/Phoebe manifesto (http://community.livejournal.com/ship_manifesto/151392.html). I dunno, maybe it's actually appropriate for that pairing. I know almost nothing about The Magic School Bus. I just saw the juxtaposition of "indie rock song about death" and "kids' cartoon" and boggled.

It certainly is a beautiful song.

It's not true. Lalla Ward is an atheist and her husband, Richard Dawkins, writes books supporting atheism. The OP (whose username is in the link) thinks that atheism = antisemitism.
