I think what really bothers me about it - well, what really bothers me about it is that it's an obvious bigoted assault on the equality of LGBT people and their rights as citizens as human beings.

But the other thing that bothers me about it is how transparently cynical and hollow it is. How obviously it's a political move to throw trans people under the bus for calculated political gain. They're hardly even pretending to care about it as a policy - they're just visibly chortling about how it'll benefit them in the midterm.
