#3 should not be unpopular or controversial, tbh. It drives me crazy when people act as if headcanons are supremely important.
I'm not saying textual interpretation can't have far-reaching effects in some situations; but let's all get a grip here.

Anyone who thinks that shit that gets tweeted or tumblrd to a few thousand people is equal to the actions of billion-dollar production companies is full of it.

To me, it ties into this bigger idea that I see floating around, of fandom as "important". Like people linking articles about how being in fandom is good for mental health, or about "fandom linguistics", or that type of stuff.
They want to feel like they're not just wasting their time or whatever, it's not just some weird little hobby, it's Important and Meaningful.

And I'm just over here in the corner saying, it's fun, I enjoy it, but yeah - it's not important. Just like people building kites as a hobby is not "important". But that's fine. It doesn't have to be.
