Re: What is the worst compliment you have ever received?

Just in general, I hate when I see a really unflattering picture of myself, and I say "Oh god, I look so bad in this!" and whoever is with me goes, "No, you look great!" Like, seriously, why would you do that? I mean, if I were to say "I look really heavy, pasty, and awkward in this picture; I have a double chin and my eyes look really small," would you seriously think it was a good idea to say, "No, that's just how you look"? Because that's basically what you just did!

These people always think the "everyone is beautiful~" line is a compliment but it really isnt. Ugly people know they're ugly, telling them "Nooo you're beautiful and let nobody tell you otherwise" never helps.

It's like this trend of calling every skin condition ~beautiful~. Like stretch marks, scars, discolorations or, my favourite, acne.
Fuck you, acne isn't beautiful. It's pus filled pimples and pain and misery and heavy medication if you want to get rid of it. There's nothing ~beautiful~ about it.

In all fairness, the majority of people who say things like that are usually fishing for compliments and they ruin it for the people who are just being honest about ourselves that yes, we're probably average looking at best.

It's interesting to me how people have interpreted my original comment.

What I actually meant was that I'm a good looking person who is deeply unphotogenic. Like, I can take a picture of myself from the best angle I can find, and then take some haphazard video of myself immediately after, and I will always look waaaaay better in the video. So I see unflattering pictures of myself all the time. But if I ever say anything about not liking how I look in a picture, someone always jumps in to tell me "Oh no, it's a great picture!" They mean to be nice, I guess, but it's like they're saying, "You're not unphotogenic, you're just actually plain as fuck." Which would bother me less if it weren't for the fact that I'm body dismorphic and have a hard time forming a clear sense of my own appearance.

Ah. Fair enough. I'm ridiculously unphotogenic if I know my picture's being taken too. I tense up and get awkward and always have this :D? smile that displays the question in my eyes like, "Am I doing this right?"

Oh god, I feel you. I can't smile for shit in pictures. I either look like an insane glassy-eyes Cheshire cat, or else I only think I'm smiling and in reality my lips aren't even doing anything, lol.
