Story lines you wish the source material had treated differently

Friday Night Lights: I wish Julie's obvious mental health issues once she started college were addressed as more than her just needing to grow up. Because girl was not right in the head, and it's a shame not even her guidance counselor mother recognized it. Actually, someone else alerting Tammy to it could have made for a much more interesting story for her as well.

I wish BTVS hadn't wanted us to side with Buffy's friends when they were being ridiculously hard on her. It was understandable for them to say those things, but the show clearly wanted us to agree with them, and no.

I wish the show had handled Giles leaving better. They could have come up with a better reason than that.

Are you talking about season six/seven or Dead Man's Party? Because I agree, they wanted DMP to make everyone else look in the right, but I thought the overwhelming sentiment of season six/seven was that the Scoobies were being incredibly hard on her.

Xander's Lie in Buffy. I wish it had been completely out in the open and explored in the last season.

I wish that Hotch's brother hadn't turned out to be a screw up. It would've been nice to see him succeed as a chef.

I also wasn't impressed with Martin's addiction storyline for after he was shot.

I can literally just use the same on I used for fic. Nick Stokes' various horrible things ESPECIALLY when he was buried alive and nearly eaten by ants. I think there was like two seconds of fallout of him being hesitant about going into an underground bunker.

I love that episode so much. I was just near a TV when it was on but I never really watched the show. I'm disappointed to learn the fallout was pretty much dropped.

he would have been much more badly scarred physically as well as emotionally. I have scars on my arm from bedbugs four years ago and fire ant bites are a zillion times worse than bedbug bites.

He'd have problems a mile long. But they never show much aftermath from anything that happened to him. Not the burial, not the stalker, not the murdered girlfriend, not sharing the fact (for presumably the first time) that he was molested as a child.

More a generic thing but I hate hate hate it when writers cast someone they fancy half way through a show and then all but abandon the other characters. For example, the end of Stargate Atlantis.

Inspired by your icon, the pre-teen sexuality in It.

Watching Babylon 5 and Talia/Susan deserved better.

TNG Star Trek would have been much better with none of the Barclay and half of the holodeck malfunction episodes.

Meowth deserved to keep Togepi.

(Yes I still think about old Pokemon plot lines. This is what my life has become.)

Not quite the same thing, but BuzzFeed recently did a crowdsourced listicle about unresolved moments from TV shows. As you can expect, a lot of them...weren't unresolved moments, but resolved moments these particular BuzzFeed readers didn't like. But my biggest WTF unresolved storyline is from Gossip Girl. There's an episode early in the second season where Dan & Serena have broken up and Dan starts seeing this new girl who's interested in him and Serena & friends decide to mess with her life and I think make her bald or put Nair in her shampoo or whatever.

At the end of the episode, it's revealed that the reason this girl was so interested in Dan is because she was specifically being paid by Chuck to be interested in Dan. This is never revealed to anyone other than the viewer and never mentioned again and it really bugs me.

Also season 2 of Quantico would 100% be better if it had been gayer. Caleb is established as having an older sister throughout the first season. We meet both of his parents, but not his sister. Season 2 gave him an older brother the fuck out of nowhere and Caleb's mostly been written out of the show by this point (he appears in like 3 episodes, I think) and they do this whole long and drawn out "will they or won't they" between Clay, the older brother the fuck out of nowhere, and Shelby, who is a main character in her own right but who was also romantically and sexually involved with Caleb all throughout season one. It makes me so mad. And then you know, there's the fact that Clay is engaged with a fiancee. I'd have next to no issue with this storyline and character if they'd just gone ahead and created a female character, the sister who already exists per the canon.

I thought that Shelby Corcoran's behaviour in sending her student to get close to her bio-daughter so she could circumvent the terms of the surrogacy was *super* *fucking* *shady*. I would never have forgiven her!
And forget ever taking back Jesse St James - he and the rest of Vocal Adrenaline would have been charged with assault, which I think might have been an impediment to their competing...
