Re: Remakes you want Vs Remakes no-one ever wanted.
(Anonymous) 2017-07-29 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)I always find it weird what animes people pick to make an American version of as well, like they never pick the anime that has actual white characters in it so white washing wouldn't be so completely offensive. Why not make Full Metal Alchemist or Attack on Titan? Those series would not be hard to make for an english speaking audience.
Re: Remakes you want Vs Remakes no-one ever wanted.
(Anonymous) 2017-07-29 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)The other real problem with One Piece is that it is, as of current, 873 chapters (just shy of 800 episodes) - the still going isn't so much an issue as the overall length of it already. Even treating separate arcs as a single season, it will take SO LONG for the audience to get to know the characters and the world that they might check out before even one season is done. You'll never get to Skypeia or Enies Lobby or Dressrosa at that rate, if the audience can't even hang on to wait for the first five characters to be introduced. In addition, the director is saying it would be the most expensive TV series ever, in terms of effects, and I still don't trust them to have decent effects. Or casting. Whitewashing is less of a concern since Oda has said the characters aren't of any one specific race - but he has also suggested what Earthly race they would each be if they were born in our world, and I legit don't expect them to cast a Brazilian Luffy, Japanese Zoro, and Russian Robin.
Shit man, though, a live-action AoT might actually make sense. It would work better than anything else Hollywood has tried.
