It's one of those John Hughes films about teenagers.

It had a lot of '80s humor that would not age well.

Molly Ringwald was in it.

It has an Asian exchange student character named Long Duck Dong who's a horrifically bad, racist stereotype.

It also has rape in that Farmer Ted has sex with Jake Ryan's girlfriend/ex-girlfriend Caroline while she isn't really aware of anything. Jake kinda passes Caroline off on Farmer Ted to drive home (even though Farmer Ted doesn't have a license, so, you know. Another thing Sixteen Candles has in common with Weird Science.)

Idk. I still enjoy it but I'm with the anon rosehiptea is responding to. They're best left in the '80s without severe updates adhering to modern sensibilities.
