The music was nice in High Society, but I thought the characters had a lot more empathy in the original.

Part of it is that something about Katharine Hepburn has always grated on me, but especially in that role (Cary Grant is one of my favorites and I like Jimmy Stewart, but still). Also, I felt sorry for George Kittredge in The Philadelphia Story, but not in High Society. Plus, Louis Armstrong.

Louis *was* awesome. And yeah, Hepburn is a really strong flavour and can be grating.

I'm still rather desperately in love with how Cary Grant and the photographer lady interacted with each other, when it looked like the loves of their respective lives were going to pair up. Sort of gentle, and sad, and understanding. (I really wanted Grant and Photographer Lady to run off and be happy together. Sigh.)
