Looking for videogame recs

[personal profile] thewakokid 2017-07-30 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I want a new open world to explore. I've reached that point in my gaming cycle where everything feels "Meh". I know in a few weeks I'll be like "I think I'll go back to Los Santos" or something, and actually in a few weeks Agents of Mayhem is out so I'll be golden, but for the time being I could do with a new something to look through. I've got so many unplayed games and I just cant decide where to take myself. Recs?

Ok.

I'm not in love with the open world. I mean, right now Im currently getting bored exploring Karnaca in Dishonored, which is only open world to an extent. Just somthing non-linear would be good.

Do you have Witcher 3? Twelfth century magical Poland isn't the prettiest place but it's lots of fun and you can always play cards or visit a brothel when you get bored hacking away at monsters. And Touissant is rather gorgeous if you have the Blood and Wine DLC.

your not wrong, but I did already play that, so it's sitting on my "Meh" pile right now. Good shout, tho. Just... I dunno, I'm in a real fussy mood at the moment.

I totally understand and realised after I posted that you were looking for new. I've been looking for new for two years and nothing has really scratched that itch. BotW was good, but it was missing something for me. I don't even know what, it just didn't grab me as hard as I wanted it to. Horizon Zero Dawn was gorgeous and fun but also more repetitive by the tenth hour than Skyrim was on my tenth character build. I hate MMOs, FPS bores me, and puzzles are for phones. It hasn't left me with much to pick from. I've been digging out old consoles and games to pass the time and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. That's actually why I thought of Witcher 3, because it's probably my favourite open world RPG ever and I think I've been away from it long enough now that I can enjoy getting back into it.

Yeah, I keep thinking "I'll give Jak and Daxter another playthrough" but I know the graphics wont hold up, and Im on the second game right now which was boiling my piss.

Assuming the obvious rec of Skyrim has already been thought of?

It hadn't. And it is a good suggestion, but I have a really difficult time getting me dick hard for Skyrim. I was playing it for months, maybe even more than a year, and the save file shit the bed. I lost everything. Same thing happened with Fallout 3. I'm not really able to get excited for them games anymore.

Oh, I really dont want to look like Im shittin on your suggestions. Its probably that I'm just being picky.

No, you're good. I get what you mean. (That was me up there. Don't know why it went anon for one comment...)

If you're looking for PC: I haven't played it for about a year, but I used to be super into Guild Wars 2 and it's open world exploration. I just liked re-rolling characters and running around the various maps and exploring.

Go on then, sell it to me. What console? Whats the gameplay like, why should I play it?

Re: Looking for videogame recs

you can find it on steam. you take a 10 year old girl. and you have 8 years to force her into child labor to make you money so you can raise her stats. the "goal" is to be a quality father and set her up for life as a princess, but tbh the...variety...of life choices she can end up with is one of the finer points of the game. the gameplay is repetitive and the translation is merely okay, but it's an addicting time waster that makes for a good palette cleanser for when you're in between games.

honestly though, I mentioned it because this just seems like something thewakokid would have already played.

With the Switch being the new hotness, I wonder if you could get a Wii U (if you were interested) now for cheap? BotW was released for it too and if you're into other Nintendo games, you can probably get a bunch cheap secondhand now (or for the virtual console, I got several other Zelda games that way).
