I think ultimately it will be decided by the writing. She's a brilliant actor who's already popular with a huge chunk of the audience. But the same was true for Capaldi and the ratings fell so far that we're lucky they didn't cancel outright. The last two Christmas specials in particular had unforgivable ratings and it's no surprise they're bringing in all new people both in front of and behind the cameras.

The Christmas specials have been awful for ages, though. I wish they'd just stop doing them and concentrate on the 'normal' episodes.
