I would urge you to watch just season 10 then. The interplay between Capaldi and Mackie is wonderful.

I want to, but I feel like I should watch through S8 and S9 first, and it's just hard. I've tried to go back through S8 and it is just a real grind for me. I really don't enjoy it.

AYRT

I skipped 7 and 8, I think. Just finished 10, which I enjoyed a LOT. Been working my way through 9. Might leave 8 entirely unwatched.

AYRT again...

Honestly, the idea of "narrative flow" through out the seasons was defenestrated a while back. Now I just watch to skim off the fun little character moments.

Same - I absolutely have to watch all episodes of everything. I did like 12's first season but could not be pressed to watch further as I dislike how Moffat writes background characters (RTD's strong point was how he shown connections between backgroubd cast).

In RTD's era, I actually cared whether the one-shot characters lived or died. In Moffat's era, I don't think we were supposed to care, other than as it would affect the Doctor (angst at not having saved them, etc.)
