From what I can tell, the issues are potential conflicts of interest with the people involved in diagnosing end of life, candidacy, and organ suitability. And given the scarcity condition of only 20% of the demand for major organs being met, a free-for-all bidding market for organs would make transplants even more expensive.

Well obviously it would have to be regulated all to hell and back to keep it safe for everyone, but I think how many people out there are dying in poverty and when they die, their organs die with them? and then of course the people who need those organs also die.

It's not really certain that paying for organs would be effective for dealing with the scarcity because many organs can only be donated by people meeting specific conditions.

Yeah, but how many of those people meeting those criteria are willing to part with their organs right now? Anything that gets them donating is a good thing.

Most organs can't be donated without death or significant health risks.
