They're both bisexual

But... it's a lesbian relationship, isn't it?

there's a lot of really dumb discourse about this, because of course there is

bi women who've been really burned by lesbian biphobia who want their relationships to be called 'same-sex' instead of 'lesbian',

lesbian biphones either trying to exclude bi women from the term 'lesbian' or else calling them lesbians (not just the relationship) and erasing their bi identities

everyone else who has normal colloquial language use getting yelled at and feeling defensive and confused

it's pretty dumb but the kind of dumb where it makes sense to be a little sensitive about it once enough people have been weird assholes to you about it

Don't forget about bisexuals who constantly call themselves and their relationships gay but get offended when someone else does.

It's the second coming of Willow wank. (Not that Willow wank ever really died.)

I know it's a generally controversial topic, and I hope I'm not being rude. My point was just that OP only used the word lesbian to describe the relationship, which I think is at the very least within common and reasonable usage.

I would like to advocate for a better separation between sexuality and relationships.

A woman can be a *lesbian* in a *same-gender relationship* with a woman who is *bisexual*.

Note the careful distinction I am drawing wherein the pairing is determined separately from the sexualities of the people involved.

But OP's usage also specifically denotes the relationship!
