My apartment floor has a communal washer/dryer. I was just putting clothes in the dryer, but I took out all my bras, since you're not supposed to dry them. I had them on the top of the dryer as I was getting everything else together, and a guy comes in. He sees me, just as I'm scooping up a handful of bras to bring back to my room while the dryer's going, and gives me an awkward smile and turns around to leave like I've scared him.

It's a private apartment floor, it's not really "public", right? Is it wrong for me to walk around with a pile of damp bras in my hands? I'm like three doors away from the laundry room. Should I have hidden all my shameful undergarments in a bag or something? Not trying to be a badass, just had no idea this was a thing.

You're not weird. Public laundry is just kind of awkward that way. I always tried to hide my bras but that's about me being shy more then anything.

this guy with a very creepy vibe once took all my laundry (including underwear) out of a washer and left it sitting there because I had stepped out of the laundry room for less than five minutes and the washer had stopped. There were other washers in there that had been empty. he seemed shocked when I got pissed at him.

That's not weird.

There's no reason to hide them because they're not shameful.

He might just be shy or surprised or maybe he's oversensitive. Who knows. But it's nothing you did wrong.

Not weird. You're doing laundry, wtf else are you supposed to do with your bras, hide them in shame? Dunno what that guy's problem was. Maybe he thought you were a bra thief, maybe the sight of ladies' undergarments shook his delicate sensibilities, maybe he remembered he left the oven on...?

You're not weird. I used to do the exact same thing in a laundromat before I lived to a place with a washer/dryer. That, and I would sort my laundry into loads out on a table, then sort it again and fold it once it was dry (while the line-dry stuff hung there from a cart, waiting to go home). My bras and panties were in plain sight.

Laundry happens. It's impossible to hide it if you share machines.
