Cocky statements/brags that just sound sad

I was thinking of this while listening to "What's My Name" from the Descendents 2 soundtrack. The antagonist's first mate (yeah they got a pirate them going on), boasts "I never learned to count because I'm number 1" but I'm just like "... omg I hope he's not serious. Poor kid".

Anybody ever heard someone boast something only to think "I don't know how you can think thats something to be proud of?" and why.

"You know I'm a racist!" like it was something totally normal and to be proud of/celebrated.

The context was that she had used an incredibly offensive slang term for a police officer's nightstick and another woman and I looked at her like she'd just sprouted three more heads.

I can't even think of a racist slang term for a nightstick, if I dredge my brain I come up with billy-club and, sort of, maybe, cosh.
