Terrible things you've recently discovered

Found out there's a fairly popular subreddit dedicated to watching people die. How is shit like that acceptable? Blehhh.

... this makes me want to cry and also hope that the redditors watching all end up watching each other die until there's no one left.

Tumblr. Just... being tumblr. More specifically antis and the people I follow who are more into that than I realized.

That there are people pushing for birth control to be called 'hormone regulation' instead to try and rebrand it away from sex and destigmatize it by pushing it as 'real medicine'.

A. You don't destigmatize something by tiptoing around it and justifying people's dislike of it! You do it by staring people down and going "There's nothing wrong with it." I don't want my fucking tampons rebranded as gender-neutral household spill cleaners with convenient tails that I gueeeeess you could shove up your filthy bloody sin-hole if you want to use it off label.

B. They have no fucking idea how medication works and how it's tested. You know what hormonal birth control is tested for? How well it prevents pregnancy. There's some evidence that it may prevent colon cancer, but UNTIL there's serious blind trials and studies you can't sell it as a colon cancer treatment.

C. "Oh, nobody I know uses it for birth control anyway, all women use it for acne/PMS/no periods/breast growth/colon cancer prevention/to attract unicorns." GEE it's almost like people have a problem with coming out and saying "I take it because I want to FUCK and not get pregnant" and surely perpetuating that it's shameful and wrong to use it for the intended purpose won't contribute to that?!
